standout organic Alsace producer

about From a family that had been farming, raising cattle, and growing grapes for 400 years, Daniel Ansen started to learn how to make wine in the 1990s, traveling and studying around the world. He took over the family property in 2010, immediately converting it to organic farming. The property consists of 40 plots on 8.5ha of land, with eight varieties planted. All the wines are fermented with native yeasts, with little to no sulfur added.

Crémant d'Alsace Brut Nature Rosé 2019 ($30)

An example of the consistent quality of sparkling wine from Alsace. It's aged in the bottle for 30 months, for a spicy lees texture. It's all Pinot Noir, for a more red-fruit led style. There is no dosage so the wine is completely dry; instead, after disgorgement, the bottles are topped up with the same wine to retain the purity of the original fruit.
