about sixth generation dating back to 1792, but one which underwent a name change in 2009. Formerly Raymond Boulard, son Francis, wife Jeanne, and daughter Delphine founded the new house. There has been a turn to biological farming; some of the vines are already certified, with the aim to have all holdings certified. All three Champagne varieties are grown, for slightly different expressions.

“Les Murgiers” NV ($70)

Not labelled as vintage, but 2018 is on the back label. Fruit comes from clay and chalk soils in Vallée de la Marne and Massif du St-Thierry. Base wine is made with native yeasts in small oak barrels, and goes through malolactic fermentation. 67% Meunier, 30% Pinot Noir, 3% Chardonnay (the 2019 is 94% Meunier, 6% Pinot Noir, not tasted). Disgorged September 2021, no dosage. Round, creamy, spicy, dry style with crisp acidity.
