standout historic property in Kent

about Hush Heath Estate was established twenty years ago and has gradually expanded to become one of England's leading producers-not just in terms of quality but also in making English wineries a tourist destination. Perhaps no surprise, because the winery was founded by a real estate entrepreneur, Richard Balfour-Lynn. The property is located on a site based around a manor house built in 1503.

wines tasted

“Balfour 1503 Classic Cuvée” NV ($45)

This fabulous wine is Hush Heath Estate's introductory label, competing very favorably with Champagne at a similar price level. The style is fresh and approachable, with 12 months on the lees and a dosage of 12g/L to balance the naturally high acidity.

“Balfour Estate” Rosé 2013 ($60)

A single-vineyard wine from the oldest vines on the estate property in Kent which made the reputation of Hush Heath, the rosé is considered one of the finest wines in England. Made using the traditional method, it's aged for 38 months on the lees before disgorgement to 9g/L to give body and richness to balance the naturally high acidity.
