standout exciting new producer
about although the family has been growing grapes since the 1740s, Alexandra Sainz formally established her own winery in just 2021. The winery and vineyards are located in Bouzy, with mostly Pinot Noir and a few plots of Chardonnay planted on south/south-east facing slopes. As a child, Alexandra “worked” with her parents to pick and press grapes: even though this is a new winery, there is a long legacy. At the moment, just two wines made.

Millesime Brut 2013 ($63)
Mostly Pinot Noir, with some Chardonnay. Eight years on the lees. Expresses the fruit-forward character of Bouzy, balanced by long lees ageing and a toasty, spicy structure. Still very fresh despite its ageing. remarkably good value for a long-aged vintage champagne.
