standout affordable and approachable

about the Cazanove name has been in Reims since 1811. It was acquired in 2003 by the Rapeneau family, and the brand was relaunched as a commercial lifestyle choice. The label is traditional, but the website emphasises the marketing strategy. The wines are affordable and of good quality without being exciting.

“Tête de Cuvée” Brut NV ($35)

45% Pinot Noir (from Montagne de Reims), 38% Meunier (from Vallée de la Marne), and 17% Chardonnay (from Côte de Blancs): this is a classic champagne blend. 37% of the wine is from reserves. Dosage is quite high at 10g/l. A fresh, approachable champagne that’s neither too expensive or complex.
