standout sparkling Gamay
about Camille Migot is the thirteenth generation winemaker in Lorraine, making his first wine in 2013: a combination of a long history and youthful revival, as winemaking in the region declined significantly during the twentieth century. He is firmly committed to restoring the reputation of Lorraine and is successfully demonstrating its potential.

Brut Rosé NV ($35)
Maybe the best sparkling wine not from Champagne I’ve tried in quite a while: in fact, Lorraine used to be a source of grapes for Champagne producers before phylloxera hit the region. It’s 100% Gamay, aged on the lees for eighteen months; although a rosé, it’s barely pink. The acidity is lean and intense: this is a serious, cool-climate sparkling wine.
