standout Grand Cru wines only
about fourth-generation winemaker David Pehu only makes Grand Cru wine from 6ha of holdings; the other 1.5ha owned are Chardonnay which is sold. The Grand Cru villages are Verzy, Verzenay, Mailly, Sillery, and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The Pehu-Simonet name was created in the 1970s, when vineyards from David’s mother’s family became part of the wines. David has been involved since 1988, and in charge since 1995. The style is Pinot Noir based, quite rich and forward but at the same time subtle.
