standout one of the first Brut producers
about Louise “Madame” Pommery inherited the house after her husband died in 1858, and transformed it into one of the leading producers in Champagne. She realised the taste in England for drier styles of wine, and popularised the Brut style, as well as concentrating on sparkling rather than still wine. Louise Pommery was one of the most influential Champagne producers, but quality has varied as volume has increased: overall, quite a commercial style. Owned by Vranken-Pommery-Monopole Group, who hold 280ha in total across Champagne. Properties also in England, California, and southern France.
