about The family's winemaking history dates back to 1724, although the first sparkling wine—which the producer is now best known for—was "only" first produced in 1995. The winery is run by Kiki Pfitzer-Simon and Ingo Simon-Ingo, who also works at a winery in Georgia, which demonstrates the duo's forward-thinking nature.

Brut 2018 ($28)

This sparkling wine is sourced from two famous Mosel vineyards, Würzgarten ("spice garden"') and Treppchen, which lie right next to each other on the steep, terraced slopes of the river in the village of Ürzig. The fact that the wine comes from such prestigious vineyards demonstrates that this is no ordinary Sekt. Dosage is 10g/L after 24 months ageing on the lees. The bottle is satisfyingly Teutonic and intimidating.
