standout Pinot Noir & Chardonnay producer branching out into sparkling wine
about David and Ginny Adelsheim purchased property in Willamette Valley in 1971, planting Pinot Noir vines at a time when there was very little viticulture in Oregon as a whole and little understanding of which grape varieties would be suitable to Willamette Valley in particular. Since then, the region has become renowned for Pinot Noir, and the winery has also pioneered plantings of Chardonnay.
wines tasted
Blanc de Blancs (vintage) ($95)
All Chardonnay. Long lees ageing. Fruitier than champagne, but with lean acidity and elegant structure.
Brut Rosé (vintage) ($90)
53% Pinot Noir, 47% Chardonnay. Very fresh and lively, light and delicate, with some maturity: spice, mushroom, red fruit, dried flowers. 4g/l dosage balances acidity.
