standout good introduction to Michigan wine

about part of a family of wineries owned by Simpson Family Estates, established in 1980 on the Lake Leelanau peninsula in northern Michigan. They have helped push the move from hybrids to vinifera and promote good quality Michigan wine. The sparkling wines are made with the Charmat method: not overly complex but very easy to drink.

wines tasted

Blanc de Blancs NV ($32)

100% Chardonnay. Lightly fruity, with lively acidity, more linear than prosecco even with 10g/l of sugar.

Blanc de Noirs NV ($32)

100% Pinot Noir. Richer, fuller, fruitier style, with 12g/l of sugar, but still with high acid for fresh, lean crispness.
